We're ROSMY, the Richmond Organization for Sexual Minority Youth.
ROSMY is here for all central Virginia youth between the ages of 14-20 who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or are questioning their sexual orientation (which we abbreviate sometimes as "GLBTQ").
If you're not familiar with who we are and what we do click the "About ROSMY" link on the left. If you're already familiar with ROSMY continue reading below.
And everyone should finish their visit to our website by clicking either the "I Want to Volunteer" or "I Want to Donate" link! (It's not mandatory, but it's very much appreciated.)
Our Latest News:
Congratulations John Dougherty!
ROSMY's Executive Director and all around good guy John Dougherty has been selected as one of three winners of the Community Foundation's Stettinius Award for Nonprofit Leadership. Launched in 2005, the award seeks to recognize outstanding professionals who provide effective organizational leadership within the charitable sector. The Community Foundation selection committee chose John to receive a $10,000 grant to pursue professional development activities.
It features articles about our Alternative Prom, our Catalyst Award and brunch, the Vigil for Unity, and one of those nifty return envelopes we love so much!
The Steve Midgett Memorial library, Virginia's largest resource of GLBT books, doesn't have a few books that we feel are important. We're hoping some avid reader will take a look at the list below and donate them to us!

Space is limited, so please make reservations quickly. Lunch is included.
Springtime in the Garden -- a brunch to benefit ROSMY was held on Sunday at the Valentine Richmond History Center. Sadly, it rained, but a good time was had by all (as far as we could tell)!
Thanks to everyone who attended the Brunch, and a special thanks to our Guest of Honor Chris Clarke and her friends and supporters who joined us.
Recently Republican state Representative Sally Kern took to the floor of the Oklahoma legislature to speak on homosexuality. “I honestly think it’s the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam,” she said. Listen . . .
A supporter of ROSMY sent us that link to her speech. It's our youth are up against -- and not just in Oklahoma. And it's why we do what we do, every day.
The mother of one of our youth wrote Representative Kern a response, which can be found here.
If you haven't been to our website before, take a look around and see what we have to offer Central Virginia's GLBTQ youth.
And then take action to make life better for all GLBTQ youth.
